Welcome to the second issue of the IARCS Newsletter for 1997. In this issue, we carry detailed reports on NSTCS-7 held at MCC in June, including photographs from the conference. We also have reports from LICS and CONCUR as well as a workshop held at Indore under the aegis of IARCS.

At the business meeting at FSTTCS in Hyderabad last year, it was proposed that the IARCS Newsletter come out three times a year. However, it appears that the current schedule of two issues a year (February/March and September/October) fits in better with the Computer Science calendar in India, with the main events in the year being FSTTCS in December and NSTCS in June/July.

We would like to expand the scope of the Newsletter to include expository technical columns. Please send your contributions and suggestions to:
