IARCS Executive Council
Call for nominations
The Constitution of IARCS states that the association shall be
headed by an Executive Council of 6--10 members. Here are the
relevant paragraphs from the Constitution about the Council.
-
The Executive Council consists of 6-10 members, with the
following office bearers elected within the Council:
-
President
-
Vice-President
-
Secretary
-
Treasurer
The office bearers of the Executive Council are corresponding
office bearers of IARCS for their term.
-
The term of the Council is three years, from General Assembly to
General Assembly.
The Executive Council meets at least once a year (at the time of
the General Assembly), and at other times as and when required
for the discharge of its duties. Other meetings may also be
conducted electronically using the Internet.
-
Nominations to the Council should be sent to the Secretary of the
existing Council in September/October of the year the term
ends. Each nomination should be signed by two General Assembly
members (proposed and seconded). A member may sign at most 2
different nominations. Nominations should be accompanied by
signed written statements from nominated members saying they are
willing to serve on the Council. Nominations without such
statements stand invalid.
(The General Assembly consists of all members of
IARCS. )
Based on the nominations received, the Council proposes the new
Council to be ratified by the General Assembly.
-
The new Council elects its office-bearers. No individual may hold the
President's post for more than two terms (consecutive or otherwise).
Since there is no existing Executive Council to call for
nominations as described in the Constitution, the task of
constituting the first Executive Council for IARCS was allocated
to me at the business meeting held during FST&TCS'98.
Accordingly, I call upon IARCS members to send in nominations for
the Council.
Nominations, in the format given on the next page, should be sent
to:
