Computational Complexity: Additional Details

Electronic Submissions

We prefer electronic submissions to the conference this year. Please check the instructions through WWW at URL:

or send an e-mail message to

compl99@sigact.acm.org

with HELP as subject header.

Other Submissions

In the cover letter of your submission, please give the full postal address of the corresponding author, this author's e-mail address, FAX number, and telephone number, if these are available.

Joint session with STOC'99

Abstract material which has been previously published in another conference proceedings or journal or which is simultaneously submitted to another conference with published proceedings, will not be considered for acceptance at Complexity'99.

This year, there will be an exception to this rule for submissions to the STOC Conference (which is also part of FCRC). In particular, the STOC and Complexity Program Committees may decide to schedule a Joint Session for 1999. Authors who wish to have their abstract considered for the Joint Session should submit their abstract to both conferences and so notify both Program Committee Chairs. The STOC submissions deadline is October 7. See http://sigact.acm.org/stoc99/. Abstracts that are accepted for the Joint Session will appear in the STOC'99 proceedings, and a 1-page version of the abstract will appear in the Complexity proceedings. Abstracts not accepted for the Joint Session will still be eligible for acceptance for an ordinary session.

Ron Book Prize for Best Student Paper

This award will be given to the best paper written solely by one or more students. An abstract is eligible if all authors are full-time students at the time of submission. This should be indicated in the submission registration message or cover letter. The program committee may decline to make the award or may split it among several papers.

Submission Guidelines

The conference has imposed a firm limitation of ten pages (in 11 point or larger fonts) on submissions. The ten-page limit excludes: the cover page, bibliography, and technical appendices. Submissions deviating from these guidelines risk summary rejection. In your abstract: (i) explain what the paper's major contributions are, (ii) convey why these contributions are interesting, and (iii) tell how these contributions relate to prior work. Use appendices to substantiate your major technical results.

Authors who have severely limited access to reproduction facilities and no access to electronic submissions may submit a single copy of their abstract.

Final Copies

The deadline for final copies will be communicated to authors of accepted papers.

The Federated Computing Research Conference

This year, the conference will be a part of the Federated Computing Research Conference (FCRC'99). FCRC'99 is an effort to bring together a spectrum of individual computing research conferences and workshops at a common site and time. Registrants at one conference will be able to freely attend sessions of concurrent conferences. In addition, mornings of FCRC week will begin with joint plenary talks on topics of broad appeal to the computing research community.

The FCRC's sponsors include the Computing Research Association (CRA), ACM, IEEE and other organizations.
